Field crops are the conventional plants in Yanqing. However, the lack of irrigation conditions and low level of mechanisation resulted in low production volume and decreasing quality of crops. This March, agriculture technology spreading station of the cultivation center in Yanqing introduced sample project of characteristic crops high-efficiency production technology, and started helping work among 15 low income villages in five counties contemporarily. They have provided guide to help local farmers replace conventional crops with characteristic crops such as fresh corns, functional cereal crops, Chinese herbs, and edible mushrooms.

The agriculture technology spreading station helped local farmers in various aspects. As for fields with no irritation conditions, they help farmers with site preparation. As for fields with appropriate area and flatness, they help farmers replace artificial seeding with precise planting, in order to decrease intensity of labour. In addition, the station have also organised technical personnel into periodic field investigation in characteristic crops, to stay informed about plant growth conditions and occurrence of pests and diseases. Once problems occur, they can diagnose problems and implement solutions as soon as possible, to guarantee the stability of grain output.

Yanqing now has implemented the high-efficiency production technology in sample fields that cover an area of 30 hectares in total. The crops are growing well and the technology has started to take effect.
