CGTN host Pan Deng is in Nairobi for the UN Environment Assembly, where he has interviewed Inger Andersen, Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme. Andersen hopes member nations can set aside their political differences to work together in tackling the grave threats facing the environment today.
Andersen says the UNEP is counting on China to show a progressive role in the plastics treaty deal.
During the interview, she praised China's work in its anti-desertification and renewable energy efforts.
