Creative 2030 Salon Held in Beijing, Focusing on AI-Powered Cultural Heritage Conservation and International Communication

The 22nd Creative 2030 Salon, themed “Artificial Intelligence for Cultural Heritage Conservation and International Communication” was held at Beijing Design Capital Building on the afternoon of June 30, 2026. The event was jointly organized by the International Centre for Creativity and Sustainable Development (ICCSD) under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Centre on Space Technologies for Natural and Cultural Heritage (HIST) under the auspices of UNESCO, and the Zhongguancun Zhongheng Cultural and Technology Innovation Service Alliance (Cultural and Technology Alliance).

More than 10 representatives from international organizations, universities, and technology companies attended the salon, including HIST, the Academy of Arts and Design at Tsinghua University, UNTRO, Tencent Interactive Entertainment, Blue Universe, Jindong Digital Creativity, Wormhole Creative, Exposure Cloud, the Professional Committee of Cultural Creativity of Tsinghua Alumni Association, Puhua Huaxin Consulting, and the Cultural and Technology Alliance. Representatives from the Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Zhongguancun Science Park Administrative Committee, and Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Center also attended the event.

Participants shared their insights into how the integration of artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, the metaverse, and other technologies can advance the digital conservation of cultural heritage and create innovative experiences. They also exchanged views on industry-academia-research collaboration, applications of cutting-edge technologies, intellectual property licensing, and international communication.

Going forward, ICCSD will leverage the role of the UNESCO Category 2 Centre and organize regular exchange activities. It will explore innovative practices in using digital technologies to support the conservation and utilization of cultural heritage, examine emerging pathways for digital technologies to promote cultural participation, heritage conservation, and the creative industries, and envision new prospects for the integration of culture and technology driven by new quality productive forces. These efforts will also contribute to UNESCO's work in implementing the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in the digital environment.

Creativity 2030 Salon

Organized by ICCSD, Creativity 2030 Salon is one of a series of activities under the center's Creativity 2030 (C2030) brand. So far, 21 events have been held. The center will organize salon activities from time to time, with themes including creativity, sustainability, science and technology, culture. Every time, 1-2 experts, scholars and senior practitioners will be invited to communicate with the public in the form of speeches, dialogue and interactive Q&A.

The International Center for Creativity and Sustainable Development under the Auspices of UNESCO (Category 2) was approved at the 38th session of UNESCO General Assembly in November 2015. In 2017, the People's Government of Beijing Municipality signed the agreement with UNESCO. ICCSD becomes the world's first UNESCO Category 2 center with the theme of "creativity and sustainable development".
