Foreign Friends Enjoy Spring Festival Activities in Shenyang

A Spring Festival activity themed Celebrating Together with International Friends and Sharing Cultural Customs in Liaoning Province was held in Shenyang recently.

The event saw more than 20 foreign nationals living in Shenyang from as far afield as Belarus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Czech Republic, Germany, Pakistan, Russia, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, the United States, Vietnam, and Yemen experience traditional Chinese culture and the characteristic delicacies of Liaoning Province.

The foreign guests included entrepreneurs, researchers, engineers, international students, and overseas internet influencers who had been attracted by Chinese culture and were looking forward to taking part in the Chinese New Year festivities in Liaoning.

They also had an opportunity to interact with the locals passing on the province's intangible cultural heritage at the Liaoning Intangible Cultural Heritage Industrial Base.

At the base, the inheritors shared the techniques of pyrography, Chinese paper crimping, candy craft artistry, and Hu Kuizhang calligraphy skills and wrote the Chinese character "Fu" for these visitors and introduced them to other techniques of intangible cultural heritage.

The foreign visitors were treated to the world-famous Peking opera, characteristic songs played on suona (Chinese double-reed woodwind instrument) and guzheng (Chinese plucked zither), stunning traditional acrobatics, and the dynamic dance of China’s ethnic Korean population. The popular tunes performed live at the event with typical Chinese charm electrified the audience, who then joined the performers on stage for a heartfelt rendering of Auld Lang Syne.

The local culture and delicacies of Liaoning ensured all a joyous Spring Festival. The foreign visitors gathered in Shenyang on the eve of the Spring Festival to celebrate with the locals of Liaoning for a joyous experience.
