Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom Liu Xiaoming delivered a speech titled, "Seizing New Opportunities and Building an Enhanced Version of the 'Golden Era' of Sino-Britain ties" at a reception at the Chinese embassy for overseas Chinese on Feb. 6. Some 400 overseas Chinese, students and Chinese-funded institutions gathered in London to welcome the upcoming Chinese New Year. Liu praised contributions made by overseas Chinese to promote exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
