The 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is currently being held in Brazil. The U.S. government has sent no senior officials to attend and has withdrawn from multiple climate commitments. The Washington Post commented that as the largest historical emitter of greenhouse gases, the United States is thwarting international cooperation and global initiatives in addressing climate change.
