Modernized Material Supply System Safeguards Jiangxi Power Grid for Stable Winter Operations

Recently, as temperatures drop, State Grid Jiangxi Electric Power Co., Ltd.’s Ganbei Materials Operation Center in Gao’an, Jiangxi, has seen increasing activity. Within the facility, various types of power materials are neatly arranged, with forklifts continuously loading them onto trucks while staff carefully verify incoming and outgoing goods.

Fan Jiangling, Warehouse Manager of the Ganbei Materials Operation Center, explained that the center was put into operation in 2021, covering an area of 100 mu (about 6.67 hectares), and is responsible for supplying power materials to nine cities in Jiangxi Province. Currently, these cities are accelerating the procurement and storage of power materials to ensure the normal operation of power equipment during the winter peak demand period.

“In addition to conventional storage areas, the center has built an intelligent automated storage-and-retrieval system with 5,280 storage locations, which can operate efficiently with just two staff members,” Fan Jiangling said during a demonstration. With a simple scanning process, automated stacker cranes quickly store the materials, while retrieval is achieved with just a click of the mouse.

It is reported that the Ganbei and Gannan Materials Operation Centers, managed by State Grid Jiangxi Materials Supply Co., Ltd., have achieved integrated “inspection, storage and distribution” operations for power materials. Compared with the previous model of direct supplier delivery, the well-established supply chain system of the two centers now enables bulk procurement at reduced costs, making power material supply more efficient.

Furthermore, State Grid Jiangxi Materials Supply Co., Ltd. has independently developed a fully automated contract inventory matching system. This has reduced the proportion of manual operations from 18% to 0.05%, shortened the inventory matching cycle from 7 days to 2 days, and cut logistics costs by approximately 35%.
