Kaifeng, Henan: Special Flood Prevention Inspections Ensure Stable and Safe Power Supply for Residents

On May 20, after rainfall, staff members of the State Grid Kaifeng Power Supply Company visited Haima Mansion Community to carry out comprehensive flood-prevention inspections and rectifications at residential power distribution rooms, ensuring safe and stable power supply for residents.

As the summer flood season sets in, heavy rains have become frequent across Kaifeng. Residential power distribution rooms are critical infrastructure for household electricity supply. Underground facilities in low‑lying areas are highly prone to safety risks such as water backflow, wall seepage, water-damaged equipment and clogged pipelines.

For above‑ground power distribution rooms, workers inspected leak‑prone areas including roofs, doors, windows and wall joints. They carefully checked equipment performance, fire‑safety installations and warning signs, and coordinated directly with the community property management on‑site to set clear standards and deadlines for rectifying identified issues.

Underground power distribution rooms were the top priority of this flood‑control and power‑security initiative. Staff verified the smooth operation of cable trenches and drainage networks one by one, tested emergency drainage pumps on site, and thoroughly checked for hazards like wall seepage and pipeline silt buildup. They also took stock of flood‑fighting supplies including sandbags, water barriers and emergency lighting equipment.

Meanwhile, on‑site staff conducted safety awareness activities, elaborating on key daily operation and maintenance points of power distribution facilities as well as emergency response procedures for waterlogging hazards. Property management teams were urged to increase inspection frequency during the flood season, with prompt coordination and rapid hazard mitigation required upon detection of abnormalities.
