Luoyang Welcomes Over 6.83 Million Tourists During May Day Holiday

According to the Luoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism, from May 1 to 5, Luoyang City received a total of 6.837 million tourists, with total tourism revenue reaching CNY 5.957 billion. Compared to 2023, this marked an increase of 7.41 percent and 13.71 percent, respectively; compared to 2019, the increase was 70.67 percent and 48.37 percent, respectively.

During this year's May Day holiday, Luoyang continued the policy of guidance rather than punishment for minor traffic violations committed by vehicles with non-local license plates in the main urban area, for vehicles with seven seats or less. This policy was enforced until 8 am on May 6. The city's urban management department set up over 15,000 temporary parking spaces around scenic spots such as the Longmen Grottoes and Luoyi Ancient City, easing the parking problem for tourists.

To facilitate the travel of tourists, the Luoyang Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism released 17 tourist routes and a three-day tour guide. The city's public transportation department opened multiple tourist special lines to provide tourists with fast, warm, and safe travel services.

The Luoyang urban terminal launched a free shuttle service, and passengers in the urban area (excluding Mengjin, Yanshi, and Yibin) could make phone appointments to be picked up by a special car and taken to the urban terminal.

During the May Day holiday, numerous museums in Luoyang bolstered their offerings by increasing the frequency of free public lectures to accommodate the surge in tourist numbers. In addition to their usual closing time at 5 pm, popular museums generally extended their operating hours by 2 to 4 hours.
