A gentle breeze sweeps over nearly a thousand acres of a flower sea at Tianfu Agricultural Expo Park, where the air is filled with a sweet, lingering floral aroma. At a glance, it seems as if you have “fallen” into a springtime oil painting.
Unlike previous years, this floral spectacle—once fleeting at just over a month—has bloomed relentlessly since December 2024, captivating crowds for three consecutive months. Among the fields, 350 mu of multicolored rapeseed flowers are now peaking, their extended bloom period drawing a fresh surge of flower-seeking tourists.
Behind this “super bloom” lies in Tianfu Agricultural Expo Park’s innovative practice: by cultivating new varieties such as early flowering and colorful rapeseed, the park has transformed the “springtime economy” from a seasonal trend into a sustained attraction. At the same time, This innovation has also turned the flower fields into a stage for young entrepreneurs and agri-pioneers.
In 2025, the park partnered with the Chengdu Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences to cultivate “Super Bloom 100,” a proprietary early-flowering rapeseed strain. Spanning 50 mu, the variety stretches bloom periods from one month to 3-4 months, perfectly aligning with holidays from New Year’s Day to the Lantern Festival.

The extended bloom is not just a visual feast—it is an economic catalyst.
“We usually open in March, but with earlier blooms, we started taking reservations six weeks ahead this year,” said Chen Juan, owner of a flower-field hotpot restaurant. “At peak times, we served over 400 guests daily.” She projects a 40% revenue increase for the season because of the extended bloom.
Beyond pairing with hotpot, the blossoms now flavor lattes. The Rapeseed Latte—a seasonal specialty introduced by a café in Kaffa, Ethiopia—features petals artfully afloat, blending earthy coffee aromas with floral sweetness.
This “everlasting spring” full of rapeseed flowers is reshaping the Agricultural Expo Park’s business ecosystem. In 2024, 27 chains—including Starbucks, Haidilao, Dicos, and Sanxun Desserts—opened themed outlets, transforming casual sightseers into engaged consumers through curated experiences.
