Recently, the online voting for the “Most Popular Lantern Groups” at the 31st Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival has officially launched until 24:00 on April 30. Everyone can cast their votes via the “Zigong cultural and tourism” mini-program for the most creative and visually striking lantern groups, selecting their favorite “Most Beautiful Lantern Groups”.

As a national intangible cultural heritage, Zigong Lantern Festival has consistently prioritized innovation as its soul and heritage preservation as the foundation, carrying forward the art of light and shadow through creative breakthroughs. The 31st Zigong International Dinosaur Lantern Festival spotlights the profound integration of intangible cultural heritage crafts, incorporating traditional techniques such as porcelain craftsmanship, Sichuan opera elements, and blow-molded art into lantern designs. This edition features distinctive thematic installations like “Happiness pervades the household,” “Bountiful Harvest,” and “Abundance Year after Year,” thus renewing the intangible heritage crafts through light and shadow art.

Inspired by the grandeur of China’s prosperity, this year’s lantern festival meticulously arranges seven thematic exhibition zones, including “Welcoming Spring Festival,” “Splendid China,” “Joyful Ceremony,” and “Convergence of Civilizations”. Traditional craftsmanship, like silk-frame sculpting and binding techniques, runs through the entire festival. A cascading display of 12 mega-sized installations, seven large-scale lantern groups, and over 200 medium and small-sized installations interplay with representative exhibits of the intangible cultural heritage of lanterns, presenting China’s spectacles in a panoramic view.
