May 23, amid palpable industry excitement, the roll-out ceremony for Volant Aerotech's inaugural VE25-100 prototype aircraft was held at the final assembly base in Hangar No.3 of Fengming Airport, within Zigong Aviation Industrial Park.

The VE25-100, classified as a medium-short range commercial passenger and cargo eVTOL, features a 200-400 km operational range with 235 km/h cruising speed. Incorporating SVO concept for full-state flight control, the aircraft offers a spacious 6-seat cabin configuration. Designed for wide-ranging applications, it covers six major eVTOL scenarios including passenger transport, cargo delivery, and medical services, etc. The series, selected after a five-month evaluation process, has been officially branded as "SKYLAR" for commercial operations, with subsequent phases focusing on airworthiness certification, production line construction, and commercial deployment.

The prototype's debut marks a new milestone in the company’s path to commercialization and signals the beginning of the commercial era for crewed eVTOLs in China. It embodies China's ambition to transition its low-altitude economy from a follower to a global leader, and is expected to drive upgrades across multiple industry chains. At the same time, the prototype’s roll-out also serves as a vivid example of Zigong’s commitment to developing the low-altitude economy and building an “aerial economic corridor.”

As Sichuan-Chongqing region's first high-level manned aircraft OEM, Volant Aerotech fills a critical gap in the local aerospace industry. Its establishment has attracted upstream and downstream enterprises, catalyzing industrial cluster development. With its smart manufacturing base, it is projected to achieve 300-unit annual production capacity and over 7.5 billion yuan annual output upon full operation, positioning it as a new growth engine for the regional economy. The newly unveiled VE25-100 prototype not only accelerates China's eVTOL airworthiness certification process but also supports the three-dimensional transportation networks and commercial passenger transport scenarios in the Sichuan-Chongqing region.
