On May 25, the 20th Western China International Fair (WCIF) opened in Chengdu. The Meishan Pavilion, located in the International Cooperation Hall (Hall 4) of the Western China International Expo City, shares the exhibition space with this year’s dual guest countries—Hungary and Laos—alongside other Belt and Road Initiative nations and regions. Notably, Meishan is the only city in Sichuan Province that has settled in the International Cooperation Hall.

This year, the Meishan Pavilion presents three distinctive themes, “Cultural Meishan,” “Tianfu Granary,” and “Industrial Meishan”, to showcase the city’s comprehensive image, unique resources, thriving industries, and cultural exchange achievements.

A standout feature is the "Digital Su Dongpo" exhibit, where advanced 3D modeling and motion-capture technologies bring the ancient literary giant Su Dongpo to life on curved screens, creating a strikingly realistic presence. Visitors can also encounter a naked-eye 3D portrayal of the young Su Dongpo and admire the bamboo-woven floral art once carried by Li Ziqi, Sichuan’s intangible cultural heritage ambassador, during a CCTV Spring Festival Gala performance. The exhibition also further immerses guests in the legendary“Jiangkou Sunken Silver” treasure tale and offers daily cultural performances, including poetic dances, Su Dongpo-themed theater, and "Feihualing" (a traditional Chinese poetry game), blending visual spectacle with profound cultural enrichment.

The "Tianfu Granary" zone highlights Meishan’s strides in agricultural modernization. It features signature local products such as Dongpo rice, Dongpo pickles, Meishan spring tangerines, Dongpo pork, and Bobo chicken, embodying Su Dongpo’s poetic sentiment: "The greatest joy in life is subtle flavor."

In recent years, Meishan's agricultural sector has been advancing towards high-end, precision and cutting-edge development. The city has not only implemented intelligent irrigation and precision fertilization technologies in rice cultivation, but also promoted advanced cold chain preservation systems in its fruit industry. At this year's concluded expo, Meishan showcased the application of satellite remote sensing technology in smart agriculture scenarios, including field monitoring and pest early warning systems through video presentations. These demonstrations vividly illustrated how "technology-driven agriculture" is transforming conventional farmland into "digital farms," injecting robust momentum into modern agricultural development. (By Jiang Zhuolin)
