On June 3, renowned CCTV host Wang Xuechun and Yang Shuyun, the makeup artist from the iconic 1987 television adaptation of Dream of the Red Chamber, stepped into the tranquil beauty of Chongzhou Yanhuachi Museum. Amidst the willows, reflections, and winding corridors of this classical garden, they launched a TikTok livestream themed “Colors of China ·Yanhua of the World.”

Yanhuachi Garden served as a major filming location for Episode 22 of the 1987 A Dream of Red Mansions, titled “Ping’er Exercises Authority to Judge Wrongful Cases and Settle Disputes.”

Whether depicting the Grand View Garden’s kitchens, the corridors where maids passed, or the garden gates where Jia Baoyu lingered, the setting fused autumnal pond waters and distant hills into a visual harmony of tile grey, cinnabar red, and ginkgo yellow—colors that enriched the show’s dramatic flow with the element of “Autumn Water and Mountain Views: A Serene Retreat.”

In the livestream, Wang Xuechun and Yang Shuyun toured the garden, revisiting classic scenes and uncovering hidden “bonus scene” within iconic moments such as “Daiyu Buries the Flowers” and “Baoyu and Daiyu Reading Together.” Wang also performed spontaneous dubbing, immersing viewers in the poetic world of Yanhuachi Garden where “Every Window, Every View: A Glimpse of Red Mansions.”

As cultural ambassadors, Wang and Yang also previewed a new immersive Hanfu experience based on the 1987 A Dream of Red Mansions aesthetics, soon to launch at the Yanhuachi Museum.
