On the evening of September 25th, the 2025 Chengdu Fashion Week officially kicked off under the theme “Treasures of China·Rhythms of the Times.” The opening show not only showcased the contemporary revival of Sichuan brocade, a millennium-old craft, but also presented a conceptual performance titled “24 Traditional Chinese Medicine Fairies,” bringing a fashionable interpretation of China's traditional cultural heritage.
Opening Ceremony
The core concept of this year's fashion week show, “24 Traditional Chinese Medicine Fairies”, is deeply rooted in the industrial foundation of Tianfu TCM Town in the Economic Development District of Pengzhou City. It represents a pioneering practice in “promoting cross-sector integration of the TCM industry” as part of the “Industrial Driven Policy of Pengzhou.”
Event Scene
On the runway, every “Traditional Chinese medicine fairies” embodied a cultural symbol. This visual translation broke away from conventional public perceptions of traditional Chinese medicine, presenting the aesthetics of TCM culture across dimensions of fashion, visualization, and daily life.
Speech by Xiao Shuxin, Secretary-General of Chengdu Fashion Industry Association
Xiao Shuxin, Secretary-General of the Chengdu Fashion Industry Association, remarked, “TCM culture is one of China’s finest traditions. Through fashion design, the association transforms its embedded philosophy, health concepts, and aesthetic values into perceptible and understandable visual language, striving to foster contemporary innovation in cultural communication.”
Event Scene
The “Fashion+TCM” mode pioneered at this fashion week is expected to drive a wave of innovations along the industry chain—from developing the cultural tourism value of medicinal herb cultivation, to creating fashion-oriented designs for TCM-based consumer products, and to immersive dissemination of TCM culture. Together, these efforts form a complete cultural value transformation ecosystem, presenting Oriental aesthetics to the public through a go-to-market lens.
Blending tradition with modernity, culture with industry, and the national with the international, this fashion gala is becoming a driving force for Chengdu in building itself into an international fashion capital, an international consumption hub, and a world-renowned cultural city.
