In recent days, the Sichuan Basin has experienced the first widespread and persistent heatwave of 2026, with multiple regions issuing red alerts for high temperatures and local maximum temperatures exceeding 40°C.

Facing the 'major test' of ensuring power supply during the heatwave, State Grid Sichuan Electric Power relies on the Sichuan provincial government's joint energy and power dispatching mechanism to promote 'five-fold coordinated dispatching' covering electricity, water, gas, coal, and rainfall management. It has comprehensively formulated 30 measures across six aspects to fully advance all work related to ensuring safe and reliable power supply during the summer peak season.

It is learned that State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company continues to advance the construction of a modern first-class power grid through its new Six Major Categories of Projects. Previously, 12 key summer-peak projects and 28 supporting power supply projects in Sichuan province had entered trial operation, adding over 12 million kVA in substation capacity and effectively enhancing the grid's power supply capability. On the demand side, State Grid Sichuan Electric Power continues to deeply tap into load resource potential, having established a time-of-use pricing peak-shifting control capacity of 3 million kVA. At the same time, it has built a reserve load resource pool of 9 million kVA, which can be deployed flexibly during peak hours to balance the load.

Currently, State Grid Sichuan Electric Power has organized over 8,000 power repair personnel, more than 2,000 emergency repair vehicles, and over 240 medium-voltage and low-voltage generator vehicles across the province to remain on 24-hour standby, ensuring rapid response to emergencies during the summer peak electricity period. Authorities in various regions have intensified the frequency of special inspections and patrols of key transmission corridors and hub substations, and are eliminating equipment hazards in a timely manner through live-line work and other methods.
