Zigong City hosted a press conference on July 20 with the theme of the "Zigong Public Parking Lots for Motor Vehicles Management Regulations". Starting on August 1, the new regulation will go into effect.

The law, which has 29 articles in all, offers precise guidelines for parking lot design, construction, management, and operation as well as legal obligations. It is the first local law in Zigong that is mainly concerned with managing motor vehicle parking in public areas.

Ancillary public parking lots, independent public parking lots, temporary public parking lots, and on-street temporary parking spaces are the four types of public parking lots that are defined under the law. The regulation also clarifies the coordination and oversight responsibilities of municipal and county-level governments, the auxiliary management duties of townships and subdistricts, and the specific division of responsibilities among various departments, establishing a responsibility system with clear authority and efficient coordination.This successfully tackles the persistent problems of disjointed and disorganized management.

Additionally, the law addresses parking issues from several perspectives, such as supply expansion, planning at the beginning, and utilizing available space.

An important step toward the legalization of parking management in Zigong has been taken with the adoption and execution of this regulation. It will offer strong legal basis for reducing parking shortages and chaos, enhancing the city's ability to manage, and optimizing the urban traffic environment.
