On 3 September, the 2026 World Power Battery Conference opened in Yibin, Sichuan Province. Held under the theme "Powering All Things: Integration and Symbiosis", the conference was organised by the People's Government of Sichuan Province and co-hosted by the People's Government of Yibin City, the Sichuan Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, and the Equipment Industry Development Centre of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. A carefully planned "1+1+8+N" series of events was organised, comprising one opening ceremony, one plenary session, eight thematic sessions and numerous concurrent activities, bringing together stakeholders from across the industry to discuss the future of high-quality development in the power battery sector.

At the opening ceremony, Yin Tongyue, Chairman of Chery Holding Group, delivered a keynote speech on industrial development practices; Ouyang Minggao, an expert in the field of scientific research and an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave a keynote speech and unveiled innovative technologies, focusing on breakthroughs in cutting-edge battery technology and showcasing the industry's latest research achievements. In addition, the opening ceremony saw the launch of the Battery Industry Green Supply Chain Construction Initiative and the construction of the zero-carbon transport corridor along the Sichuan section of National Highway 318.

Initiative to Build a Green Supply Chain in the Battery Industry Launched

The World Power Battery Conference is the only national conference in the power battery industry with global influence, approved by the State and organised by the People's Government of Sichuan Province. Since its inception in 2022, the conference has seen continuous growth in brand awareness, public reputation and industry recognition. It has become a flagship event in the power battery sector—rooted in Yibin, centred on Sichuan, extending its reach across the nation and connecting with the world—as well as a platform for exchange and cooperation amongst government, industry, academia, research institutions and end-users. It has played a positive role in propelling China's power battery industry to the forefront of the global stage.
