On October 11, the Huanda Cable · 2026 China Miciangdao International Road Cycling Race got underway with the starting horn at Hongye Square in Guangwushan Town, the Bazhong Culture and Tourism Demonstration Zone in Sichuan.

At the competition venue

That morning, as the sharp blast of the starting whistle rang out, 574 competitors sprinted from the starting line, officially kicking off the competition.

On the day of the race, three official viewing points were set up along the route—at Guangwu Valley, Shenmen Station and the Linjiang Lixia junction—where visitors from across the country and local residents gathered early to cheer on the riders as they sped past. On the course, the riders leaned forward and pedalled hard, at times bunching together and at others breaking away and pulling ahead, their colourful cycling jerseys weaving through the autumnal mountain scenery; alongside the course, cheers and shouts of encouragement echoed through the valley, transforming Micang Avenue into a sea of jubilant excitement. After several hours of fierce competition, the winners of all individual and team awards across the five categories were decided and presented one by one at the awards ceremony held at Hongye Square in Guangwushan Town.

The awards ceremony

A single road connects a series of scenic spots. The Micang Avenue links seven key scenic areas—including the Guangwu Mountain Scenic Area, Micang Mountain National Forest Park, Nuoshui Dongtian Scenic Area, Kongshan National Forest Park, Shenmen Scenic Area and the Red Army Martyrs' Cemetery of the Sichuan-Shaanxi Revolutionary Base Area—into a single chain. Along the route, there are five distinctive rest stops—such as those at Guangwu Mountain, Shenmen and the Nuoshui River—as well as three camping sites and four viewing platforms.

At the opening ceremony of the event, local intangible cultural heritage performances, including "Fanshan Jiaozi" and "Bayu Dance", were staged to great acclaim; the Bazhong City Culture and Tourism Group promoted the 24th Sichuan Guangwu Mountain International Red Leaf Festival at the event.

A high-calibre sporting event is not only a stage for athletic competition, but also a key driver for stimulating local cultural and tourism consumption. This event has innovatively created a diversified integrated system combining "sport and tourism", "sport and cuisine", "sport and trade fairs", and "sport and performing arts", transforming the event's footfall into tangible growth in cultural and tourism consumption, and exploring practical pathways for "sport to empower cultural and tourism development" in revolutionary base areas.
