On October 24, the 5th 2026 China National Fitness Walk (Run) Competition (Sichuan · Suining Chuanshan Station) National 100-City Relay Race kicked off at Jiulianzhou Wetland Park in Chuanshan District, Suining City. Organized by the Social Sports Guidance Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, this year's event featured two categories: a 10-kilometer Elite Challenge and a 5-kilometer Fitness Walk Experience Race.

As a key stop on the National 100-City Relay Race, this event has been held multiple times in Chuanshan District, Suining. The race course connected landmarks such as Jiulianzhou Wetland Park, Tongde Bridge, and the Fu River, with aid stations, water stations, and fixed medical aid points set up along the route to ensure participants' safety throughout the race. The 10-kilometer Elite Challenge uses chip timing for net timing. The top 20 male and female individual finishers will receive awards, with the top prize being 3,000 yuan. A special award for local Suining athletes is also offered to encourage local runners to challenge themselves right in their own backyard. The 5-kilometer Fitness Walk Experience Race is open to the general public; there are no rankings or official times, and all finishers will receive a commemorative medal, allowing more citizens to participate easily and enjoy the benefits of fitness.

The event is being held in conjunction with the 5th Sichuan-Chongqing Border Region Mass Sports Festival to create an integrated matrix of cultural and sports activities. A series of events—including the Fujiang River Water Sports Exhibition and the Sichuan-Chongqing Carrier Pigeon Invitational—will also take place simultaneously at Jiulianzhou Wetland Park. This mass sports carnival, blending land, water, and air activities, will enrich the spectator experience. Following the conclusion of the event, the organizing committee will continue to repurpose resources such as venues and materials to sustain the event's momentum. By leveraging the "sports + culture + tourism" integration model, the committee aims to fully showcase the natural landscapes and cultural heritage of Chuanshan, thereby empowering regional development.
