Eighth Annual Meeting of Global Youth Dialogue Held in Beijing

In order to enhance the youth's scientific understanding of sustainable development in the digital age and empower their digital innovation capabilities, the eighth Annual Meeting of Global Youth Dialogue, along with the Global Sustainable Development and Youth Digital Creativity Conference, was recently held at the University of International Business and Economics. The conference was co-hosted by the University of International Business and Economics and the Collaborative Innovation Center for the Theory and Practice on Building an Open and Economically Strong Country for Universities and Colleges in Beijing, and supported by the UNESCO International Center for Creativity and Sustainable Development under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter referred to as the ICCSD). Over 150 youths and scholars from more than ten countries gathered in Beijing to engage in a heated discussion on the theme 'Shaping the Future: Global Sustainable Development and Youth Digital Creativity.'

Prof. Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for East Asia, and Tussan, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, delivered a video speech for the opening ceremony of the conference. Brunei Princess Mahem sent a congratulatory letter to the conference. Over 150 guests from home and abroad attended the conference, including Pan Yue, Deputy Director of the Beijing Technology Innovation Promotion Center, Wang Shipeng, President of China Commerce and Trade Press, and Yang Jin, former ambassadorial rank representative of China to UNESCO.

Prof. Shahbaz Khan, Director of the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for East Asia, delivered a speech at the conference.

In his video address, Prof. Shahbaz Khan stated that the power of dialogue and the creativity of young people can shape a more sustainable and inclusive future. This conference is a vivid example of how we can harness the power of youth and digital creativity to promote sustainable development, underscoring our commitment to the protection and promotion of diversity of cultural expressions, which is aligned with UNESCO's mission to foster social, economic, and environmental sustainability.

Tussan, Secretary-General of the Secretariat of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, delivered a speech at the conference.

In his video address, Tussan emphasized the transformational role of youths in building a sustainable and prosperous world. The UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (hereinafter referred to as the 'Convention') will celebrate its 20th anniversary, continuing to address complex challenges, particularly in ensuring cultural diversity and access for all. This conference collectively reflects the shared commitment of youths to cultural diversity and sustainability. It is believed that the ideas and collaborations in the dialogue will contribute to building better governance and cultural systems that drive sustainable development.

Launch ceremony for the Chinese Edition of "Youth Culture in a Globalized World"

During the event, a launch ceremony was organized for the Chinese edition of "Youth Culture in a Globalized World". This book was originally an English work published by Springer in 2021. China Commerce and Trade Press has introduced the copyright of the book, which has now been translated into the Chinese language by Professor Wang Yuhang from the Center for Youth and Humanities Exchange of the University of International Business and Economics. The book provides diverse perspectives and research outcomes for a deeper understanding of global youth culture and serves as a reference for gaining insights into global youth culture.

Guests and youth representatives visit the "The Classic of Mountains and Seas"

During the event, with the assistance of the Beijing Science and Technology Innovation Promotion Center and ICCSD, the guests and youth representatives attending the conference visited the"The Classic of Mountains and Seas" at Beijing 798. The exhibition explores and reconstructs from a unique perspective the world depicted in"the Classic of Mountains and Seas" (山海經) using cutting-edge technologies such as sculpture, 3D printing, ink animation, virtual reality (VR), and artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms. The guests were led through an innovative and immersive journey of traditional Chinese culture with a blend of art and technology.
