The Covilhã Design Triennial, a UNESCO Creative Cities initiative, will host its inaugural edition from March 21 to June 21, 2025, focusing on bioregional design and innovation. This event, organized by Ideias Emergentes, invites participation from all UNESCO Creative Cities of Design to showcase projects that reflect sustainability and regional identity.
UNESCO Creative Cities are invited to submit proposals for the Creative Cities Exhibition by November 30, 2024. The selected projects will be announced by the end of 2024, with final proposals due in Covilhã by February 28, 2025.
Project Requirements
Proposals should include products, services, or projects that demonstrate social and environmental sustainability, regional originality, and the integration of history and tradition into contemporary design. A maximum of two proposals per city are accepted, aligning with the Triennial's bioregional approach.
Submission Details
Each proposal must include a conceptual text, author biographies, technical files, and images. The exhibition will feature physical artifacts and audiovisual content, along with a 150-word project caption.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Covilhã Design Triennial will handle the exhibition assembly and integrity, while participating cities are responsible for shipping exhibits and covering related costs, including return shipping, customs clearance, and insurance.
