At the morel mushroom planting base in Beifuying Village, Tuandong Town, Neixiang County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, morel mushrooms are growing vigorously, and villagers are harvesting the ripe, high-quality mushrooms.
As a rare edible and medicinal fungus, morel mushrooms have extremely strict requirements for their growing environment. Therefore, irrigation and temperature control systems play a crucial role—and the operation of these systems depends on a stable power supply. Since 2024, Fuying Village has built 18 standardized greenhouses and achieved full-chain control over mushroom strains, cultivation technology, and marketing channels.
Currently, it is the peak season for morel mushroom harvesting. The State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has organized its staff to go to the cultivation areas to carry out special inspections. They conducted thorough checks on power supply lines, power distribution equipment, and the humidification system to identify potential risks and hazards. In addition, they rectified hidden dangers such as loose wiring terminals and tested the backup power supply for the temperature monitors used for mushroom beds.
During the inspection, taking into account the characteristics of the mushroom cultivation cycle, staff educated farmers on using electricity during off-peak hours and optimizing equipment operation. They also provided on-site demonstrations of emergency handling methods for sudden situations like tripping of the air circuit-breaker.
“The shelf life of fresh morel mushrooms is only 72 hours. They must be packaged and processed right away, and a stable power supply is essential. We’re really thankful to the staff of the power supply station, who conduct monthly inspections of the power lines and equipment,” said Xie Yuwei, the person in charge of the base.
Looking ahead, the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company will deepen its “Power + Agriculture” initiative. It will also establish special archives for electricity consumption in mushroom cultivation, formulate customized service plans, and deliver precision power supply services. By doing so, the Company aims to safeguard the development of the characteristic planting industry and inject strong energy momentum into rural revitalization.
