The Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Forestry and Grassland (Sichuan Giant Panda National Park Administration) held a press conference to introduce the work of Sichuan province to promote the construction of the high-quality Giant Panda National Park on October 12, marking the first anniversary of the official establishment of the Giant Panda National Park. It is said that Sichuan has set up a Giant Panda Genetic Data Platform at the Giant Panda National Park, which has collected the DNA information records of more than 500 giant pandas.

The giant panda, known as the "national treasure" and the "living fossil", is a rare and endangered species unique to China. On October 12, 2021, the Giant Panda National Park was officially established, covering Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, with a total area of 22,000 square kilometers. Among them, Sichuan covers an area of 19,300 square kilometers, accounting for 87.7% of the total park area, and 1,227 wild pandas, accounting for 91.6% of the total number of 1,340 wild pandas in national park, live in Sichuan.

After the official establishment of the Giant Panda National Park, Sichuan province has strengthened the construction of key ecological corridors and wildlife release bases for giant pandas, protected and restored 26.56 square kilometers of panda habitat, and set up 663 fixed patrol lines. In 2022, more than 80,000 people have been patrolling the area, and 724 images of wild giant pandas have been monitored.

In the future, Sichuan will focus on the implementation of complete protection, with natural restoration as the main ecological measures, supplemented by artificial restoration, accelerating the promotion of giant panda habitat connectivity. Meanwhile, Sichuan will support the development of eco-friendly industries such as eco-tourism and panda culture, and promote harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
