There are a group of young people from the Belt and Road countries. They are studying, traveling, working, or living in China, and therefore bound up with China. They have been witnessing the rapid change of China, sharing their own stories about China with others, and praising China for its change.

Recently, CRI Online has been releasing a series of news reports, Youth along the Silk Road Praise China, to listen to these young people's stories about China.

The protagonist of this episode is Victoria Charles Mwanziva, who takes up a leadership position of Tanzanian Youth Think Tank, Vijana Think Tank. Victoria works on policy assessment, analysis, and organizing outreaches and briefings on various topics to produce more creative suggestions for the development of Tanzania.

Victoria Charles Mwanziva was in the interview.

On August 12th, the reporter met Victoria in Silk Road & Youth Dreams event for youth communication in Beijing. Victoria attended the speech contest and the topic is Belt and Road Shared Benefits, the China Africa Cooperation in New Era – Youth Engagement, Development in China and Africa. In her speech, Victoria encouraged young people to enrich their knowledge, enhance political awareness, and actively engage in international affairs, in order to make contribution to the development of their countries and the world. Victoria has engaged in quite a lot of events related to youth and women empowerment. In 2016, she participated in the African Youth Leadership Forum and the contest for United Nations Youth Envoy.

In Victoria’s perspective, One Belt and One Road (OBOR) has offered an opportunity to Tanzania. Tanzania is supposed to grasp this opportunity to promote the development through the cooperation with China. Victoria thinks that the economic and trade exchanges with China will generate economic income for Tanzania, but this is not the ultimate method of economic growth. “Developing countries need more technological advancement so that they can make their economy robust.” said Victoria. Tanzania needs to catch the opportunity of OBOR and learn more advanced science and technology from China to reinforce the foundation of the future economic development.
