Zhejiang Tonglu Pumped Storage Hydropower Station Construction Goes into Operation

On November 20, the ceremony of the groundbreaking of the Zhejiang Tonglu Pumped Storage Hydropower Station, a ten-billion-yuan project, was held in Fuchunjiang Town, Tonglu County.

Situated in Fuchunjiang Town, Tonglu County, the pumped storage hydropower station, with a total installed capacity of 1,400 megawatts and a rated head of 531 meters, can generate 1.68 billion kilowatt hours of electricity each year. With a total construction duration of 68 months, including 58 months for the first generating unit, the station will mainly undertake tasks such as power storage, frequency regulation, and power backup for the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd., and the State Grid East China Grid Company Limited after its completion.

Since the beginning of this year, the CPC Tonglu County Committee and Tonglu County government have taken the pumped storage hydropower station as a landmark project of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and sped up to carry forward various preliminary work of the project. Meanwhile, Tonglu County has begun the formulation of tourism plans in advance for a comprehensive integration of the pumped storage hydropower industry into local tourism, healthcare, and rural revitalization, so as to promote the synergy of the high-quality development of the industry and ecological conservation.

Tonglu County will further improve its task groups and build the pumped storage hydropower station into a shining pearl in the modern version of the "Dwelling in Fuchun Mountains" by identifying goals, breaking a project into small tasks, and ensuring responsibility implementation.
