On May 13, 50 horses from the Netherlands arrived at Hangzhou International Airport via flight. After passing quarantine inspection at the port, they were transported to the quarantine facilities for imported horses in Tonglu County. Horses destined for show jumping, after completing a month of quarantine, will participate in the Second International Equestrian Open (the "Open") in Tonglu, which marks Tonglu's first equestrian competition since the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou.

This Open, featuring show jumping competitions, is scheduled to take place in mid-June. It will be open for riders to sign up and will also introduce domestic horses to compete alongside international participants, allowing for a mix of riders and horses from both at home and abroad. It is expected that over 150 rider-horse combinations will compete in the Open. In addition to high-level professional events, this Open will also include competitions for young riders.

The 50 Dutch horses arriving in Tonglu, primarily for show jumping, have already been ordered by various domestic clubs. Following the arrival of nearly a hundred Argentine polo ponies on May 9, this marks another successful overseas horse-trading transaction in Tonglu. Next, the horses will undergo a 30-day quarantine period at the quarantine facilities, when Qianjiang Customs will strictly implement quarantine, inspection and supervision requirements for racehorses, conduct regular clinical examinations, and collect samples for laboratory testing of equine diseases, thus preventing biosecurity risks. Only after passing the quarantine inspection will the horses be eligible to participate in the Open. (Text/Photo by Wang Shanting, Shan Jiaming)
