The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has laid out the blueprint for national rejuvenation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization. The series “A Glimpse of China: What Does the Chinese Modernization Mean to the World” features the global resonance to Chinese modernization and presents interviews with experts and scholars from across the world, providing an external perspective on the scientific connotation and specific characteristics of the Chinese modernization. The interviews also discuss the referential potential of Chinese high-quality development for other developing countries.
The year 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Brazil diplomatic relations. In this episode, we interviewed Evandro Menezes de Carvalho, recipient of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and Coordinator of the Center for Brazil-China Studies of the School of Law of the Getulio Vargas Foundation in Rio de Janeiro (FGV Direito Rio). Currently a senior visiting fellow of Institute for Global Cooperation and Understanding at Peking University, Mr. Evandro speaks highly of the cooperation between the two countries in various fields and applauds China's positive influence on global governance. He mentioned that, as Brazil and China are both populous nations, Chinese modernization provides valuable lessons for Brazil in coping with the challenges posed by large population. He believes that Brazil can promote development by learning from China's strategies such as coordinating urban-rural development, improving infrastructure, leveraging regional advantages and enhancing population mobility.
