The 2024 Second Hangzhou (Tonglu) International Equestrian Open (the "Open") officially kicked off on June 14th at the Hangzhou Equestrian Center.

This Open marks the first major international equestrian competition hosted by the center since the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou, and the largest competition held since the construction of the venue. The three-day event features eight different competition levels. Over 500 rider-horse combinations from more than ten countries and regions, including China, the Netherlands, the United States, Russia, and Germany, are competing for prizes totaling RMB a million. Participants rang in age from 9 to 56 years old, including top-level athletes who have previously competed in the Olympics and Asian Games.

On the same morning, the Hangzhou (Tonglu) Horse Industry Development Promotion Conference was also held at the Hangzhou Equestrian Center. During the conference, Tonglu County signed horse industry projects with relevant institutions and inaugurated the Zhejiang University "Zhejiang Youth Love Sports" Hangzhou (Tonglu) Activity Base. Experts from the China Animal Health and Epidemiology Center also announced innovative measures for managing the "disease-free zone" in Tonglu, Hangzhou, with a focus on better services for equestrian events and the horse industry development. Tonglu County introduced six industry policies related to supporting the introduction and development of equestrian events, investment project implementation, horse breeding and trading, professional equestrian training, platform development, and talent growth, to encourage market players to actively participate in the comprehensive utilization of the Hangzhou Equestrian Center and the development of the horse industry.

Additionally, during the Open, there will be activities such as Han Xue Ma (literally sweats blood horse in Chinese) viewing and riding, Tonglu intangible cultural heritage exhibitions, Tonglu Taste Market, and Tonglu cultural tourism exploration. Ticket holders for the equestrian competition can also enjoy a 50 percent discount at the Yaolin Wonderland and Daqi Mountain National Forest Park before the end of the month.
