In the year of 2024, “Belt and Road Initiative” has wrapped up its first vigorous decade and is actively embracing a new golden decade. Reviewing the past, what tangible achievements has BRI made and why has it become a popular international public good and international cooperation platform? Looking ahead, how can BRI achieve new developments of higher quality and higher level? Based on this, China Radio International Online launches "Dialogue with Ambassadors in China: China's Role in the Global Governance" series, interviewing a number of ambassadors to China from BRI partner countries and inviting them to share their views on this.

In March this year, the visa exemption agreement between China and Thailand for holders of ordinary passports came into force, which has boosted the tourism of both countries and enhanced the people-to-people exchanges. H.E. Chatchai Viriyavejakul, the ambassador of Thailand to China, emphasized that the agreement reflects the close relationship between the two countries and their people. In the meanwhile, he projected expectations for the China-Laos-Thailand railway, which will be opened to traffic this year in July, highlighting that the connectivity of "hardware" as well as "software" under the Belt and Road Initiative will benefit southeast Asian countries.
