On August 22, the Hangzhou Tonglu Xiaoyuanxi Mountain and Water Sports Park project officially began construction, signifying a significant advancement for Tonglu in the tourism realm of high-quality, large-scale mountain and water sports parks.

With a total investment of approximately CNY 3.2 billion and covering an area of about 560 mu (37.33 hectares), the park aims to build itself into a comprehensive cultural, commercial, and recreational complex featuring a large water park, super electronic music festivals and performances, upscale resort hotels, business trips and wellness.

The entire project will be constructed in two phases. The first phase, with an investment of around CNY 1.2 billion, includes mountain hotels, a visitor center, venues for electronic music festivals and comprehensive performances, a high-tech large-scale water park, and luxury detached brookside villas. The second phase involves transforming an existing mine into a cliffside hotel complex. The electronic music festival and performance section in the first phase is expected to open by October 2025.

This project stands out from other water parks, according to Shan Jianhong, Chairman of Hangzhou Xiaoyuanxi Cultural Tourism Industry Co., Ltd. "The water-based activities and immersive performances set amidst scenic mountains, designed based on Tonglu's historical and cultural landscape, will offer visitors a distinctive and exceptional experience," he added.

The design plan envisions the Tonglu Xiaoyuanxi Mountain and Water Sports Park as a well-known micro-vacation destination in East China, a national immersive performance base, and a super IP-based water park. Notably, the water park will operate year-round, offering diverse experiences through performances, night tours, dry land facilities, seasonal themes, and land art, based on the seasonal and day-night variations. (Text/Photo by Tu Huarui, Ye Jing, and Zhang Xiaoxiao.)
