Power Professionals Ensure Reliable Power Supply for Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival

Recently, the cherry blossoms in Gucun Park, located in the Baoshan District of Shanghai, have reached full bloom, and the "2025 Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival" is attracting a surge of visitors. In response to the increasing number of tourists and the rising electricity demand in the park, State Grid Shanghai Shibei Power Supply Company has coordinated with multiple departments to implement specialized power protection measures for Gucun Park's upstream power sources and surrounding electrical equipment, ensuring a safe and reliable power supply during the festival.

Maintenance personnel from State Grid Shanghai Shibei Power Supply Company conducted specialized inspections at the 35 kV Liuhang Substation, the primary power source for Gucun Park. They utilized accelerated partial discharge detectors and infrared thermal imaging to perform live-line testing on essential equipment such as switchgear, transformers, and cable terminals. Key inspections focused on identifying partial discharge and abnormal heating risks, effectively addressing potential defects to enhance the substation's power supply reliability.

Live-line workers install insulation protection measures for power lines near the park

Meanwhile, line inspection personnel operated drones to Inspect the overhead power lines in the park area using infrared. thermometers and acoustic imaging devices were also deployed to test electrical equipment within the park. A live-line crew utilized an insulated bucket truck to install insulation protection measures on 10 kV overhead lines near the park, which are prone to interference from surrounding trees.

Since the opening of the Cherry Blossom Festival on March 15, State Grid Shanghai Shibei Power Supply Company has dispatched 30 personnel for power protection and conducted 12 special inspections of surrounding substations, cables, and 10 kV overhead lines. (Text/Photos by Shi Yanbin)
