In recent years, State Grid Hubei Electric Power Company Limited has constructed a "solar-plus-storage integrated microgrid" at the golden snub-nosed monkey field research base in Shennongjia Forestry District. This zero-carbon microgrid, combining "rooftop solar + energy storage system," provides the base with reliable and clean electricity, avoiding the ecological impact of traditional energy sources on the golden snub-nosed monkeys' habitat. The system not only enhances research and living conditions for scientists but also ensures uninterrupted scientific operations during the energy transition, further supporting breeding and conservation efforts for golden snub-nosed monkeys.

Through the implementation of electric heating systems, electric water heaters, and electric kitchen appliances, the base has resolved operational challenges such as frozen water supplies and heating during severe cold. As a result, researchers can work and live at the base throughout the year to protect the golden snub-nosed monkeys. Furthermore, with a reliable power supply, the base is able to utilize more advanced research equipment, including conservation monitoring instruments and environmental monitoring devices, which greatly facilitates research and conservation efforts for golden snub-nosed monkeys.

Through years of efforts by conservation personnel, the habitat area of golden snub-nosed monkeys in Shennongjia has been continuously expanding, and remarkable progress has been made in protecting the monkey population. Currently, the number of golden snub-nosed monkeys in Shennongjia has increased significantly, from over 500 to more than 1,600. State Grid Hubei Electric Power has pioneered a path to green development by coordinating energy transition and biodiversity protection.
