Nanyang, Henan: Reliable Power Supply Boosts Selenium-Rich Shiitake Mushroom Industry

On May 19, technicians from the State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company visited the Selenium-rich Shiitake Mushroom Cultivation Base of Junwang Planting Cooperative in Banshanping Town, Nanzhao County, Nanyang City, Henan Province. They conducted safety checks on electrical equipment including drying machines, sterilization cabinets, and cold storage facilities used for shiitake mushroom processing while educating farmers on the safe operation of equipment.

“Electricity is essential to every stage of production—from cultivation to harvesting and storage. The power supply staff regularly visit to inspect electrical equipment, offering attentive service,” said Lu Junyan, the base manager.

With growing market demand for selenium-rich shiitake mushroom products, more residents have joined the industry. State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has responded by accelerating grid upgrades and rural power infrastructure development. This involves optimizing grid infrastructure, improving power supply quality, and proactively visiting farmers to understand electricity needs and gather feedback. Additionally, professionals conduct regular inspections of power lines and equipment to address potential safety hazards.

Currently, Nanzhao County has 148 specialized shiitake mushroom production entities including specialized towns, villages, cooperatives, bases, and enterprises, with an annual output of 80 million shiitake mushroom bags generating 800 million yuan in production value, significantly boosting local agricultural incomes.

Looking ahead, State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company will continue improving power services to support the industry’s full supply chain development, ensuring reliable electricity for mushroom growers’ success.
