“Wow, a tiny kilowatt-hour can charge Mom and Dad's phones 100 times! That's amazing!” Recently, first-grade students from Longgang No. 8 Primary School, accompanied by their teachers and parents, visited State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company. Through observation, hands-on experiments, guided tours, and interactive lessons, they embarked on a unique “Electricity Fantasy Journey.”

To promote electricity knowledge and spark children's interest in science and technology, State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company invited local primary school students to explore the power grid. The event featured safety education, engaging electricity-themed activities, and hands-on demonstrations, allowing children to immerse themselves in the world of electricity.

At the beginning of the event, young volunteers from the company used animated shorts and comic illustrations to explain topics such as how electricity is generated, how to use it safely, and how to save energy. Key safety messages like “Never touch switches with wet hands,” “Replace damaged wires promptly,” and “Stay away from trees during thunderstorms” were reinforced through fun quizzes. The children eagerly raised their hands to answer, creating a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.

During the scientific experiment segment titled “The Fantasy Journey of One Kilowatt-Hour,” the children operated circuits to light up small bulbs. Cheers erupted: “It’s on!” “Mine lit up too!”—allowing them to intuitively experience the magic of energy conversion.

Accompanied by young volunteers, the children also learned how drones—key tools in the operation and maintenance of power equipment—play an important role in enhancing the intelligence and digitization of the power grid. Under professional supervision, they even got the chance to try flying a drone themselves. They also toured the emergency power vehicle, curiously observing various power supply equipment and delving deeper into the fascinating world of electricity.

“This activity was very meaningful. It gave the children valuable knowledge beyond the textbook and helped them understand where electricity comes from and why safe usage is so important,” said the lead teacher of the group. “It also fostered awareness of energy conservation and safety. I believe the students gained a lot from this experience. I hope there will be more such hands-on learning opportunities in the future.”

In recent years, State Grid Wenzhou Power Supply Company has actively taken on its social responsibility by organizing a series of public welfare initiatives such as “Electricity Science Popularization on Campus,” “Primary School Students Enter the Power Grid,” and “Safe Electricity Use in Communities.” These programs have opened a window for children to understand electricity, enhanced public awareness of power grid operations, inspired early career aspirations, and built stronger community trust in the power grid.
