Nanyang, Henan: Reliable Power Supply Fuels Growth of the Moxibustion Industry

On June 10, inside the moxa stick production workshop of Aimingyuan Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., located in Jiangliuwa Village, Zaoyuan Town, Zhenping County, Nanyang City, Henan Province, workers were busy feeding mugwort leaves into the production line. The leaves then underwent a series of processes: cleaning, drying, impurity removal, pulverization, fluff separation, rolling into strips, and cutting into individual moxa sticks. Finally, the finished sticks were packaged, boxed, and prepared for sale.

Aimingyuan Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. is a rural enterprise that integrates the cultivation, processing, and sale of mugwort. It has over 3,600 mu (approximately 600 acres) of high-quality mugwort cultivation bases. Deep processing of mugwort requires the use of drying ovens, pulverizers, rolling machines, pressing lathes, automatic packaging machines, and other equipment, placing high demands on the reliability of the power supply.

State Grid Nanyang Power Supply Company has closely followed the growing electricity needs of the moxibustion industry. They completed the second phase of the 35 kV Zaoyuan Substation, adding a new 6,000 kVA main transformer and erecting a 35 kV transmission line. Several capacity upgrades have transformed the Zaoyuan Substation into a dual power source substation.

At the same time, the company integrated the electricity needs of the local moxibustion industry into the rural electrification initiative. They installed 11 new transformers, increasing capacity by 12,000 kVA. A dedicated power service team was established specifically for the moxibustion industry, conducting on-site visits to assess specific power demands and developing tailored power supply solutions, thereby enhancing the precision of their services.

Today, Zaoyuan Town is home to over ten mugwort processing enterprises and dozens of warehouses, production workshops, and exhibition halls. A comprehensive moxibustion industry chain has taken shape, including mugwort cultivation, product processing, new product research and development, and integrated online and offline sales channels. The industry now extends its reach to eight surrounding townships, including Luyi, Anziying, and Gaoqiu.
