Recently, at the 110 kV Qixian Substation, maintenance personnel from State Grid Kaifeng Power Supply Company were conducting precise infrared temperature checks on key components, including main transformers, disconnect switches, and line clamps. This real-time equipment monitoring helps ensure the reliable operation of the power grid during the peak summer load period.

As electricity demand continues to rise in summer, State Grid Kaifeng has launched a special high-temperature inspection initiative. The program focuses on increasing the frequency of temperature checks on heat-prone components such as equipment joints, bushings, and lead wires. By closely tracking data trends, the company ensures early detection and timely resolution of potential issues.

To enhance inspection coverage, the company has adopted a multi-layered inspection model combining drones and intelligent patrol robots. This approach enables full inspection of high-altitude and confined-space equipment, significantly improving both efficiency and accuracy. The substation’s online monitoring system also collects real-time data—such as transformer oil temperature and load current—supporting equipment condition assessment.

In response to alternating thunderstorms and extreme heat during the summer, the company has put emergency response plans in place. A 24-hour duty system has been reinforced, with ample emergency repair materials and backup generators prepared. Through load forecasting and power flow analysis, operational strategies have been optimized to ensure power supply reliability under all weather conditions.

Going forward, State Grid Kaifeng will conduct targeted temperature checks during nighttime peak load periods, further strengthening grid safety to meet higher standards.
