During the critical autumn harvest period, and facing more than 20 consecutive days of rainfall, Guyuan Power Supply Company has proactively provided on-site support to fully meet the electricity needs of grain drying enterprises. With reliable power supply, it safeguards farmers’ hard-earned harvests and ensures the quality of newly collected grain.
In 2025, the total grain planting area in Guyuan City is approximately 3.13 million mu (about 208,000 hectares). Corn and potatoes, as the city’s main staple crops, account for more than 70 percent of the total. To ensure stable power supply during the harvest season, Guyuan Power Supply Company established an Autumn Harvest Power Supply Task Force ahead of time to carry out special power supply inspections at multiple public grain drying service stations and cooperatives across the city. The inspections focused on transformer loads, protection devices in distribution rooms, and other key equipment to ensure safe and stable operation.
At an agricultural drying workshop on Shicha Street in Wangwa Town, Pengyang County, piles of freshly harvested corn poured in for drying. A large drying tower was operating at full capacity, conveying golden kernels continuously into the storage warehouse—a scene full of energy and activity.
“Autumn grain is most vulnerable to moisture. If corn isn’t dried in time, it easily molds or sprouts, and farmers’ year-long efforts may go to waste,” said Zhang Yun, an individual operator. “Since September, our drying tower has processed more than 50 tons of wet grain. The power company’s staff come weekly to check our equipment, ensuring that the tower operates around the clock without failure.”
“In rainy weather, it’s vital to guard against dampness and electrical leakage,” said Xu Honghuai, a staff member at the Wangwa Town Power Supply Station in Pengyang County, as he used a multimeter to inspect switches, cables, and distribution boxes.
Since early October, Guyuan Power Supply Company has organized the State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Service Team to visit farms and rural enterprises. The team has inspected nearly 1,000 grain-growing and agricultural businesses, dispatched more than 1,200 personnel, mobilized over 300 emergency repair vehicles, eliminated more than 150 electrical hazards, and conducted over 100 drone inspections to identify and rectify over 50 hidden risks.
Meanwhile, the company has opened a Dedicated Green Channel for Autumn Harvest Electricity Use, streamlining temporary connection procedures and providing “one-stop” services for power applications and fault repairs for agriculture-related enterprises. This ensures that new drying equipment can be rapidly connected to the grid and put into use.
Next, Guyuan Power Supply Company will continue to monitor weather conditions and grain drying progress, providing reliable electricity and attentive service to help farmers turn their “harvests” into “assured grain,” ensuring that every kernel of autumn grain is safely stored.
