Nankang, Ganzhou: An Industry Shaped by a Carpenter's Plane

Despite lacking local timber resources, Nankang has built the country's largest solid-wood furniture manufacturing base. Despite being far from the coast, it has developed an inland port linking Asia and Europe. And despite having no established aviation industry, it now hosts the country's largest low-altitude economy industrial park, with extensive airspace for low-altitude flights. Over the past three decades, the people of Nankang, Ganzhou, have proven one thing: "making something out of nothing" is not a myth—it is built through hard work.

Ganzhou International Land Port

On September 2, a group of online influencers participating in the 2026 "Daka China – Ganzhou's Red Glory" tour visited Nankang. In the furniture workshops, every piece of wood is tagged with a QR code, allowing the entire production process to be traced with a simple scan. Indonesian influencer Lin Fengfeng said, "You can check exactly where each piece of wood comes from and what it is made into—that gives me great peace of mind." Nankang is now home to more than 7,000 furniture enterprises, with total revenue exceeding RMB 290 billion.

At the international land port, more than 1,800 China-Europe freight train services have been operated, accounting for over 80% of the provincial total. Wood imports that once took months can now arrive in just over ten days, while furniture made in Nankang is sold around the world. In the low-altitude economy industrial park, an 800-meter runway stretches toward the sky, serving as a launchpad for the local drone industry.

Egyptian influencer Nouran marvelled, "Furniture, a land port and drones—one place can do all three so well. Nankang has shown me the bigger picture behind China's manufacturing: it's not just about speed, but about systems and structure."

From the ground to the clouds, the story of Nankang continues. Through the lenses of these influencers, that story is now being shared with the world.
