Xing’an League in Inner Mongolia Builds High-Standard Farmland to Safeguard Food Security

As a major grain production base in northern China, Xing'an League is exploring a new path to ensure food security and advance sustainable agricultural development by developing high-standard farmland.

Statistics show that in 2025, Xing'an League achieved a total grain output of 14.342 billion jin (around 7.171 million metric tons), ranking second in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Its per-mu yield reached 910.6 jin, exceeding both national and regional averages. To date, a total of 9.43 million mu of high-standard farmland has been developed, accounting for more than half of the region’s total basic farmland and providing solid support for regional food security.

Local authorities have consolidated farmland to create large contiguous plots of over 1,000 mu and introduced community-based participation models to involve farmers in construction and increase their incomes. Modern agricultural technologies have also been promoted to enhance water conservation, significantly reducing irrigation water use per mu and lowering agricultural production costs.

Xing'an League has established farmland management and protection mechanisms and introduced digital supervision, placing equal emphasis on construction and long-term management. Grain yields in project areas have increased by more than 100 kilograms per mu on average. The region's practices have also delivered win-win results for ecology and the economy: improved cultivated land quality, facilitated the conversion of ecological value into economic value, reduced production costs, and increased farmers' incomes, injecting strong momentum into rural revitalization.
