On a warm and sunny spring day, Wushan Lake National Wetland Park in Wuxue, Hubei, is lush with greenery and shimmering waters. Along the greenway around the lake, golden rapeseed fields complement the clear water, while flocks of waterfowl such as egrets and pintail snipe skim across the surface or rest and forage in the shallows. As a national wetland park, it serves as a wintering ground and migration stopover for 131 bird species, attracting over 200,000 waterfowl each year.

Behind this scenic beauty lies a dual mission of ecological conservation and power grid security. The power supply lines around Wushan Lake run through the wetlands. State Grid Wuxue Power Supply Company has designated the Wushan Lake wetland as a key maintenance area, and staff conduct regular inspections of power lines around the lake to meticulously identify equipment hazards. They also carefully maintain the birdwatching boardwalk and surrounding power facilities to create a safe environment for the public to watch birds and enjoy the lake.

To mitigate the power grid security risks posed by bird nesting, the company's staff carry out aerial operations to install standardized bird deterrent devices on poles and towers, safely relocate nests in a timely manner, and build artificial bird nests to guide birds to suitable habitats. These measures ensure the stable operation of the power grid while minimizing disturbance to the birds' living environment. In addition, staff educate birdwatching tourists on bird conservation knowledge and provide volunteer guiding services for birdwatchers, helping to raise public awareness of ecological conservation.
