As early summer draws near, Chinese roses, the city flower of Shijiazhuang, are bursting into full bloom. At the Chinese Rose Square near the north entrance of Donghuan Park, a rich variety of Chinese roses are blooming in vibrant colors and giving off a delicate fragrance, attracting numerous visitors to stop and admire the scenery.
Built in a terraced planting style, the Chinese Rose Square is laid out with various Chinese rose clusters, flower corridors, and standard rose clusters rising gradually from west to east along the terrain. The most popular Chinese rose corridor is covered with intertwined blooming flowers, forming a picturesque flower-dome tunnel. It has become a popular photo spot for enjoying the city flower and is hailed by local residents and tourists as “Shijiazhuang’s Monet Garden.”
Covering an area of more than 3,000 square meters, the Chinese Rose Square in Donghuan Park features six major categories of Chinese roses, including hybrid tea roses, floribunda roses, climbing roses, standard roses, and ground-cover roses. It boasts 14 high-quality ornamental varieties, such as Caiyun, Gold Medal, Golden Phoenix, Pink Fan, Crimson Fan, Carola, and Purple Robe and Jade Belt. In addition to the Chinese Rose Square, roses are also planted in clusters beside the bamboo forest at the Poetry and Painting Corridor and north of Wangyue Pavilion in the park, with a total of over 20,000 Chinese rose plants across the entire park.
In early summer, Chinese roses of various colors are blooming splendidly in Donghuan Park. Citizens and tourists are warmly invited to appreciate the beauty of the city flower and immerse themselves in the stunning sea of blossoms.
