Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has fully entered its main flood season, posing severe and complex challenges for flood prevention and disaster relief efforts. Red Cross organizations across the autonomous region have taken multiple measures to strengthen flood response efforts and safeguard residents’ lives and property.
Recently, the Inner Mongolia Red Cross Society convened several special meetings to coordinate flood prevention and disaster relief efforts across the entire system and strengthen disaster relief responsibilities at all levels.
In terms of supplies and rescue support, Red Cross organizations at all levels across the autonomous region, along with 34 disaster relief material reserve depots, have completed comprehensive inventories of relief supplies. The regional Red Cross Society and several league and city-level Red Cross branches have purchased additional flood control supplies, including raincoats and water pumps. Multiple regional and league- and city-level Red Cross emergency rescue teams are on full standby, ready for emergency deployment at any time.
Proactive disaster prevention awareness activities are also being carried out. The Inner Mongolia Red Cross Society, together with multiple government departments, conducted an online live stream on drowning prevention and life-saving education. Through on-site demonstrations, the program introduced self-rescue, mutual rescue, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillator (AED) operation skills, attracting more than 4.22 million views across online platforms.
Meanwhile, Red Cross organizations at all levels have inspected equipment under the public welfare drowning prevention initiative known as “one lifebuoy, one rescue rope, and one rescue pole.” Missing or damaged equipment has been replenished and maintained in a timely manner to ensure that rescue facilities remain accessible and functional during emergencies.
