Silk Road IP, Opportunities in China | "Life Nests" Paint a New Vision of Harmonious Coexistence

In recent days, the "Silk Road IP, Opportunities in China" event visited the Binhe Jiuliang Liquor Industrial Park in Zhangye. International Experience Ambassadors visited State Grid Zhangye Power Supply Company's "Bird Protection Along Power Lines" project to witness the practical integration of green development and biodiversity conservation.

The park's lush vegetation and interconnected waterways attract birds such as magpies and Eurasian collared doves. However, this has led to a "bird-wire conflict": nests built on transmission towers can cause short circuits and pose electrocution risks to the birds. Traditional methods, such as scaring birds away or removing nests, failed to balance power grid safety with avian welfare.

State Grid Zhangye pioneered an innovative bird-guidance and bird-protection system, installing artificial biomimetic nests to guide birds to safer habitats, resolving the conflict at its source. During the event, the ambassadors participated in constructing and installing these nests, gaining firsthand insight into the company's ecological governance philosophy.

Built with a wire frame and wrapped in natural rattan, these biomimetic nests are windproof and rain-resistant, specifically designed for Zhangye's arid and windy climate. Under professional guidance, the ambassadors laid down grass padding before helping staff secure the nests to tree branches, carefully adjusting the angles to ensure the safety of both the power grid and the birds.

Yu Xinke noted that her hands-on experience gave her great confidence in State Grid's ecological solutions.
