“Another bumper harvest!” On August 28, 2026, Zeng Deming, a large-scale grain grower in Group 7 of Zhuanglian Village, Haitang Town, Changshou District, Chongqing, bent down and lifted a rice panicle heavy with grain, a smile spreading across his face.
Zeng started in 2013 with the management rights to 100 mu of farmland and now cultivates 270 mu of contiguous farmland, pursuing a technology-driven transformation of his farming operation. His farm now has equipment such as harvesters, plant-protection drones, and tillers, as well as a grain-drying facility. After obtaining a drone operator’s license, his son can carry out seeding, pesticide spraying, and fertilizing on his own, far more efficiently than manual work.
Behind this bumper harvest, the employees in red vests from State Grid Chongqing Changshou Power Supply Company have remained the most reliable guardians in the fields. In 2021, the company’s Yuntai Power Supply Station relocated the village’s transformer to the load center, erected 13 new utility poles, and installed 1,100 meters of power lines, strengthening Zhuanglian Village’s power infrastructure for agricultural production.
On July 12 this year, an overload during the peak irrigation period caused a line clamp to burn out. The Yuntai Power Supply Station completed the emergency repairs and restored power that same day. Zeng remarked, “Reliable power means a secure harvest.”
During the autumn harvest, once the grain-drying facility is switched on, it runs around the clock for 20 consecutive days. Zeng’s farm uses more electricity than any other farm in the village, making a reliable power supply essential. Before this year’s autumn harvest, staff from the Yuntai Power Supply Station visited again to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the grain-drying equipment and electrical lines, ensuring their safe and reliable operation.

As agricultural mechanization advances, power demand continues to grow among new agricultural business entities such as large-scale grain growers and family farms. State Grid Chongqing Changshou Power Supply Company has provided proactive on-site services, stepped up rural power grid upgrades, optimized power supply plans, and extended its services to farms and fields, supporting every stage of grain production.
