Alxa League Awarded the Title of "World Capital of Camel Milk"

On September 9, the 2026 International Conference on Camel Research and Development was held in Alxa Right Banner, Inner Mongolia. At the conference, the International Society for Camel Research and Development (ISOCARD) officially awarded Alxa League the title of "World Capital of Camel Milk."

Alxa League is renowned as the "Hometown of Camels in China" and the "Hometown of Camel Milk in China," and is endowed with abundant Bactrian camel germplasm resources. The league is currently home to 174,000 Bactrian camels, with annual camel milk production exceeding 16,000 tons.

For years, Alxa League has promoted the conservation of germplasm resources, scientific and technological innovation, and deep processing, while continuously improving the entire camel industry value chain. The total output value of the camel industry has surpassed RMB 3 billion. Of this, the camel industry in Alxa Right Banner alone has generated a comprehensive output value of more than RMB 2.5 billion. Camel-raising households have seen their annual incomes increase by an average of RMB 68,000.

Through mechanisms that link the interests of different stakeholders, the benefits generated by the camel industry are reaching local herders, helping chart a path toward shared prosperity through ecological conservation, thriving industries, and rising herder incomes.

Building on this new starting point, Alxa League will continue to strengthen its distinctive camel industry, transforming the "Ship of the Desert," once known for traversing the vast desert, into a true "Ship of Prosperity" that drives high-quality local development and helps people increase their incomes and achieve prosperity.
