At 15:58 on September 15, following three successful trial energizations of the 220 kV Fengyang Line, the first transmission line of the 220 kV Fengdu Yangjiaba Traction Station external power supply project for the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway was energized and commissioned. This marks a milestone in the construction of the power supply project for the Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway.

A traction station is the “powerhouse” of high-speed railway operations. The Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway will have three new traction stations along the line: Fengsheng, Fengdu Yangjiaba, and Ruxihe. The 220 kV external power supply project for the Fengdu Yangjiaba Traction Station is being constructed by State Grid Chongqing Changshou Power Supply Company. It includes 125 kilometers of new 220 kV transmission lines, 150 transmission towers, one new 220 kV switching station, three new 220 kV bays, and 0.3 kilometers of cable circuits. After nine months of intensive construction, the main transmission line works have been completed. The entire project is scheduled to be completed and commissioned in 2027.

Construction of the 220 kV Fengyang Line began in January 2026. On September 23, State Grid Chongqing Changshou Power Supply Company will begin commissioning the 220 kV Mayang Line. Once both lines are operational, the 220 kV Fengdu Yangjiaba Traction Station will be supplied by two independent power sources and be ready for official commissioning.
To address challenges including a tight schedule, widely dispersed construction sites, and a heavy construction workload, State Grid Chongqing Changshou Power Supply Company has established a regular meeting mechanism covering daily, weekly, and monthly meetings to coordinate, track, and resolve difficulties at construction sites through a closed-loop process. It has also introduced a task-list management system under which completed items are checked off, implemented proactive and advance safety controls, and established a joint project owner team to bring together the technical expertise of local power supply companies, enabling on-site problems to be resolved on the same day.
The Chongqing-Wanzhou High-Speed Railway is an important part of the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou Corridor and the Beijing-Kunming Corridor in China’s national “Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal Lines” high-speed railway network. Once open to traffic, the railway will significantly improve travel convenience for people living along the route.
