In Dongxiang District, Fuzhou, Jiangxi Province, luffa sponges once regarded as waste are now processed in the workshops of Jiangxi Meier Luffa Sponge Co., Ltd. into four major product lines and 298 varieties, including cloth shoes, mattresses, bath products and cosmetics. Sold to countries and regions including the Republic of Korea, Japan, the United States and New Zealand, the products generate annual output value of nearly RMB 200 million, placing the company firmly among China's leading exporters of luffa sponge products.
Dongxiang District has adopted a model that brings together Party branches, local talent, cooperatives and farmers to promote large-scale luffa cultivation. The district's planting area has surpassed 9,000 mu, involving more than 6,000 farming households in and beyond Jiangxi and increasing each farmer household's income by more than RMB 30,000 on average. Following a business model that links the company, cooperatives, bases and farmers, Meier Luffa Sponge Co., Ltd. has extended the industrial chain from space breeding to intensive processing, greatly increasing the value of the small luffa sponge.

As the industrial chain continues to expand, processes such as drying, shaping and sewing are placing higher demands on power supply reliability. To meet the industry's electricity needs, State Grid Fuzhou Dongxiang District Power Supply Company has organized Party-member service teams to make regular visits to Meier Luffa Sponge Company's production workshops and planting bases. They inspect distribution boxes, leakage protectors and dryer wiring one by one and rectify any defects, open a dedicated green channel for agricultural electricity applications, and provide round-the-clock support to ensure stable electricity for production.
Today, Dongxiang's luffa sponge industry has developed a complete chain spanning space breeding, large-scale cultivation, intensive processing and cross-border sales. A single small luffa sponge now connects a major industry that raises local incomes. Focusing on the needs of local specialty agriculture, State Grid Dongxiang Power Supply Company is supporting industrial upgrading with high-quality electricity, helping humble farm products reach overseas markets and "weave" their way into the global market, injecting strong momentum into high-quality regional economic development.
