State Grid Tianshui Debuts "Four-Drone Synchronized Heavy Lifting" to Boost Power Grid Construction Quality and Efficiency

Recently, at the site of the Dongke Avenue grid interconnection and renovation project in Maiji District, Tianshui City, State Grid Tianshui Power Supply Company adopted a heavy-lift "four-drone synchronized lifting" technique. This operation efficiently advanced the interconnection and renovation of the 114 Xingqi II Line (connected to the 110 kV Xinghuo Substation) and the 113 Dongchuan Line (connected to the 35 kV Jieting Substation). By leveraging mechanized and intelligent construction methods to tackle complex on-site challenges, the company is helping modernize the power grid and improve efficiency.

The project has a total investment of more than RMB 2.6 million and involves upgrading 12.36 km of 10 kV power lines and installing six new intelligent pole-mounted circuit breakers. By reconfiguring the network to link the 110 kV Xinghuo and 35 kV Jieting substations, the project addresses the issue of "single-source" power supply in the Dongke River area. The use of intelligent switchgear optimizes grid connectivity, significantly reducing customer outage times and enhancing the flexibility and reliability of load transfers.

To address specific weaknesses in the local grid, the project team implemented several key upgrades. To mitigate risks associated with aging utility poles, a high proportion of bare conductors, and insufficient load-carrying capacity, the bottleneck sections and bare-wire sections of the lines were replaced with JKLY10240 insulated conductors. This transition to fully insulated main lines reduces fault-related trip rates and improves the load-carrying capacity of the power grid.

Aligned with Tianshui's 15th Five-Year Plan, peak electricity demand in the Dongkehe Industrial Park is projected to reach 10.96 megawatts. This grid upgrade clears regional capacity bottlenecks and ensures reliable power supply for new electricity demand in the industrial park as well as the towns along the route, including Shetang and Ganquan. By meeting the power needs of industrial projects while ensuring reliable, high-quality electricity for local residents, the project supports local industrial upgrading and high-quality economic development.
