On the morning of September 27, the 2026 "7.16 National Swimming and Fitness Event" and the 8th China·Tonglu Fuchun River Crossing Challenge officially got underway at the Fuchun River Water Conservancy Scenic Area. More than 2,100 swimmers gathered in Tonglu, Zhejiang, slicing through the waves amid the picturesque Fuchun landscapes. The exhilarating sports event of the fast and the furious brought a vibrant new energy to Tonglu, adding a dynamic splash of color to the city's cultural and tourism scene.

As a national open-water swimming brand event hosted in Tonglu, the Fuchun River Crossing Challenge has attracted swimmers from across China with its competitive intensity and the beauty of Fuchun landscape. It has become a signature IP of Tonglu for the integration of sports with culture and tourism. This year's event featured two core competitions: the 1,600-meter Leisure Swim Along the Picturesque Fuchun River and the 800-meter men's and women's whitewater crossing challenges. The event not only provided professional swimmers with a competitive arena, but also allowed swimming enthusiasts to drift downstream and immerse themselves in the beauty and charm of the surrounding landscape.

After intense competition, the top 12 teams in the overall standings received trophies and prize money, while the top 12 finishers in each whitewater crossing category were awarded certificates and prize money. The organizing committee also presented 15 Outstanding Organization Awards and 15 Friendship & Communication Awards, recognizing participating teams for their outstanding performance in event organization, team spirit, and event promotion.

Looking ahead, Tonglu will continue to harness sporting events as a driving force to further deepen the integrated development of sports, culture, and tourism where sporting events promote tourism and tourism in turn boosts sports. The county will further enrich its "Travel to Tonglu for the Events" tourism offerings, creating more opportunities for visitors to explore Tonglu alongside major sporting events. These efforts will help foster a stronger culture of fitness, expand and upgrade cultural and tourism consumption, and inject even greater vitality into the city's development through the combined appeal of sports and tourism.
